THE VISIT WILL BE HELD IN ENGLISH OR DANISH

Kort beskrivelse af aktiviteten: Photovoltaic (PV) cells are solar cells used to convert sunlight into electrical energy. A new record has been set, with over 24,339 GWh of solar and wind energy produced in Denmark in 2024, contributing to around 63% of the annual electricity production. Of this, around 6% of the electrical energy came from solar panels. An average household uses around 4,000 kWh of electrical energy per year, so it can be said that 600,000 families were supplied by solar energy. Considering that many households with PV systems are combined with batteries, this means that these families can cover their daily electricity needs during sunny periods, thereby supporting electricity network companies like Norlys and Energinet.

Karakter af besøgets indhold: General overview and introduction into photovoltaics, including a tour of the laboratories and hands-on experiments with different types of solar cells. The visit could also involve a general tour in the labs of Department of Energy Technology conducted by our decentralized study advisors.

Faglig relevans: Physics. This tutorial is intended for high-school students who have some knowledge about electrical power and are interested in renewable energy.

Nøgleord: Photovoltaics

Forventet niveau: The level can be adapted (1.-3.G + HTX)

Forberedelse: Some knowledge about electricity is needed: Voltage, current, power and energy.

Udbytte: Some of the exercises can also be done off campus, weather data is available offline from the weather station at Campus.

Maks. antal personer: Due to the classroom size a maximum of 30 persons. Laboratory sessions can run in parallel.

Tidspunkter for besøget: To be determined in collaboration with the contact person.

Besøgets varighed: Both half-day and full day tutorials are available

Mødested: Institut for Energiteknik, Pontoppidanstræde 111, 9220 Aalborg Øst
